Child autism - helping with recovery and treatment

child autism

Where has my child gone? Imagine waking up one day and finding that your child has disappeared. They have been taken away. You are in shock. You approach the authorities to get help on child autism treatment to get them back. To your utter dismay you find that not only is there little help forthcoming, you are faced with what amounts to a never ending series of emotional and financial stress, as you struggle under your own steam to find out what can be done.

Every day becomes a blur, as your life drifts into a sense of despair and depression. Your life changes beyond recognition – you have no time for those things you had before, like a social life - you spend your days trying hard to make sense of what has happened. The only thing that keeps you going is your unfailing belief that the child you had before can be found.

This is what we felt when our beautiful son was diagnosed with Autism. We no longer feel this way. We have hope for our child (“written off” by the mainstream medical/educational profession) now we have seen what he can achieve with the right approaches and intervention. We now know that the term autism recovery is a reality. The autism treatments we have set in motion are making a significant difference.

We would never have known our Son’s potential had we accepted the mainstream view on child autism. From 10 words at age 2 and half, he is now talking in complete sentences, reading, writing and playing. He is even now showing interest in other children. These gains have come as a result of two and a half years in a behavioural and cognitive program (home program) and specifically targeted biomedical intervention for child autism.

From Mum – “I could not even communicate with our son when he had just turned three. All he did was watch videos and push his trains in and out of tunnels. I had to take him out of nursery because he could not communicate and so pushed, hit and bit other children. If someone had told me then that every day I would actually be teaching my child, and he would be learning, I wouldn’t have believed it”.

We have now set up the TRUE group so parents can help each other on their journey and find their own autism recovery path. We hope to have a complete guide to any and every autism treatment being used, with the view to giving you as much information on autism recovery as possible. The main goal of TRUE is, together, to heal our children…. either by the sum of our experiences or the tireless work and research of wonderful educationalists, doctors and therapies.

About the TRUE Group

We are not aligned to any one therapeutic approach but aim to take a balanced view on the premise that in child autism, although there are common characteristics, the children are all individuals.

We believe in the concept of autism RECOVERY. This is something people fear when connected with autism. The party line is “Autism is a life-long disability for which there is no known cure”.

Let’s all give up now then!

Autism recovery, for the TRUE Group, is believing in your child’s potential and taking them as far away from the disabling features of autism as possible. We believe that every autism treatment we list will make a difference. Some more than others.

Our goals...

Therapies We shall post and discuss the pros and cons of as many different therapies and medications as we can. There is no definitive therapy that works for child autism. What we will try to do is bring you as much information as possible to help you make an informed decision.

Behavioural/Cognitive There are definitely approaches that will benefit many children with autism. Some of them you will find are better than others. Our goal is to make you aware of just what is out there. ABA and VB are the two we use with our son.

Provide therapy information and possible curricula for home-programming, on-line. This will be found under BEHAVIOUR section.

Biomedical - In depth information will be provided on the website, with the best links to explore. This method of autism treatment is a potentially overwhelming field – not yet accepted by the majority of UK Doctors and behavioural consultants but showing good results with many children.

Provide information on the best places to visit for the day/go on holiday for the family with a child with autism. Also we have just added a BENEFITS section detailing all the financial help you can get.

Understanding - We hope to have a monthly newsletter in the not too distant future, providing information on the latest developments in the field of Autism, both therapeutic and biomedical. This will be available for subscription very soon. We are currently creating the True Child Autism Treatment and Recovery ebook which we hope to be presenting soon.

Education - Provide information on the latest developments in educational and legal issues relating to child autism.

DISCLAIMER - The bio-medical information and views presented on this website are to be used together with medical guidance. Whilst in our opinion bio-medical therapies will make significant differences to your child , they should not be undertaken without consulting a qualified physician. What works for one child may not work for another simply because of the dietary factors, such as intolerances the individual's physical profile or the diagnosis. Child autism recovery is a term used within this site to explain ways in which you can bring your child back into the world to varying degrees.

As with biomedical intervention, behavioural and cognitive therapies will vary according to each individual child's needs. They should therefore be carefully considered.
